This print shows the hardwood forest on the top of the hill behind my parents’ house in Maryvale, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. As always, I was interested in the twisting and tangled shapes of the trees, and the sharp contrast where their dark trunks sink into the snow. This is a reduction print, meaning that I carved and printed the light blue colour first, then I carved more wood away from the same block and printed the dark blue colour on top.
