This print is part of a series of small studies. My intention was to get back to basics and experiment with how best to depict my subject (the forest) in my medium (woodcut printmaking); to try lines and textures and compositions in a small format where the risks were low and the focus narrow and clear. This particular image depicts plastic tubing for maple syrup harvesting. I based the image on a photo I took near the Keppoch summit in Antigonish. It was shortly after Hurricane Fiona so these few trees stood against an open sky where all of their neighbours had fallen.
