Arctic Sea Ice Decline
I work for Esri, where my primary role is writing and editing tutorials. One of the projects I developed was the five-part tutorial series Cartographic creations in ArcGIS Pro, which walks users step-by-step through the making of this map. In designing this map, I had to balance two goals: 1) to effectively depict the decline of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean and 2) to demonstrate the most important cartographic skills and concepts without bogging the tutorial down with any tedious or repretitive tasks.
This map is 11x17". Two versions are shown here: the first is the map created in the tutorial, and the second is a somewhat an enhanced design which I created as an example of how the map could be customized by the student's taste and creativity.
